Mataguisi Ruins or Pudtol Church Ruins

Mataguisi Ruins, also known as Pudtol Church Ruins is a historical site in Pudtol, Apayao, a province in the Cordillera region of the Philippines. It is the remains of a 16th-century church that was built by the Spaniards during their colonization of the country. The church was one of the oldest and largest in the region, and it showed the influence of the Spaniards to the historical and cultural fabric of Apayao.

The church was made of coral stones and bricks, and it had a bell tower and a convent. It was dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle, and it served as a center of religious activities for the locals. The church was also used as a refuge by the people during wars and uprisings.

However, the church was destroyed by a series of earthquakes and typhoons in the 19th and 20th centuries. Only the walls and some parts of the roof remain standing today. The ruins are now a tourist attraction that showcases the rich heritage and history of Apayao.
