Dupag Rock Formation

Dupag Rock Formation is a cluster of jagged limestone boulders that measure around 7 to 8 feet high. It is located in Marag Valley, Luna, Apayao, a province in the Cordillera region.

• Dupag Rock Formation is a natural attraction that offers a challenging and rewarding hiking experience. Climbing to the peaks requires proper footwear and protective gear, as well as careful scrambling and squeezing through the rock walls.

• Dupag Rock Formation has a stunning view of the surrounding fields, rivers, and valleys from the highest peak, which is called Father Rock or Mother Rock. The rock formation is also part of the Phil-LiDAR 1 project, which aims to produce high-resolution flood hazard maps using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology.

• Dupag Rock Formation has a historical significance as well. It was used as a hiding place by locals and insurgents during past wars and guerilla uprisings. It is also one of the names that the indigenous Yakan people used for pre-historic Basilan, along with Uleyan, Matangal, Puh Gulangan, and Umus Tambun.
