Description

Crisologo Museum is an ancestral house turned into a museum by the Crisologos, who happen to be one of Vigan’s most prominent political family figure. The museum is a few walks away from the Vigan Cathedral. It is famous not only because of the family name attached to it but with its wide range of memorabilia as it also houses historical and political remains of what shaped the Ilocos province and the whole Philippines.

Some of the things you can see and do inside the museum are:

• Learn about the life and achievements of Floro S. Crisologo, a former congressman who authored some laws that created the University of Northern Philippines and the Social Security System.

• See the preserved remains of animals that Chavit Singson, a politician and businessman who owns Baluarte Resort and Mini Zoo, hunted and killed in various parts of the world.

• Observe the antique furniture, family portraits, local implements, and war relics that date back to the Spanish erahttps://guidetothephilippines.ph/destinations-and-attractions/crisologo-museum.

• Witness the old Chevy that was used by Carmeling Crisologo, Floro's wife, when she survived a surprising ambush in the 1960s.

• Take photos of the original wood and boards used for the ceiling and the dulang (low table) that were documented during pre-and Hispanic period as part of dining experience of Filipinos.

The museum is open daily from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. There is no entrance fee, but donations are accepted for maintenance purposes. The museum is located at A. Reyes Street, Vigan, Ilocos Sur. You can get there by a guided tour or by riding a jeepney going to Silang Street and asking the driver to drop you off at Calle Crisologo. From there, it is 2-3 minutes walk to the museum.
