Panagtagbo Festival: A Celebration of History, Diversity, and Unity in Tagum City

February 28, 2025 - March 02, 2025

The Panagtagbo Festival is a cultural festival and founding anniversary of Tagum City, the capital of Davao del Norte province in Mindanao, Philippines. The festival is held every March 7 and features various events that showcase the history, diversity, and unity of the city and its people

The name of the festival comes from the Cebuano word “panagtagbo”, which means “meeting” or “gathering”. The festival describes a celebration where Tagumeños (the people of Tagum) meet with other Tagumeños from different walks of life, regardless of their ethnic origins, religious beliefs, or political affiliations. The festival also honors the first set of municipal officials who were inaugurated in 1941.

Some of the highlights of the festival are:

• A citywide beauty pageant that showcases the most beautiful women of Tagum.

• An inter-city sports tournament that promotes healthy competition and camaraderie among athletes.

• A parade with street dancing that displays the colorful costumes and ethnic dances of Tagum.

• A civic and military parade that recognizes the achievements and contributions of various sectors and organizations in Tagum.

• A cultural night that features musical and theatrical performances by local artists.

The Panagtagbo Festival is one of the most anticipated events in Davao del Norte, where it attracts thousands of visitors and tourists who want to witness and experience the culture and hospitality of Tagum.
